User's notes

This is small butterfly is a regular annual visitor over Summer and well into Autumn. It is often seen visiting any flowering Cucurbits and Common Silkpod, (Parsoonia straminea) plants. The predominant colours are black, white and an intense, sometimes iridescent light blue. Photo 1 gives a clear idea of the colours and patterns on the outer wings of, I believe, a female Small Green-Banded Blue, (Psychonotus caelius). The next 4 photos are of a mating pair. The female is slightly bigger and has a slightly yellow wash over much of the large white area on the outer hind wing. The legs have alternating bands of black and white (photo 2), as does the body (photos 1 & 2), and possibly, the antennae (photo 2). The white bands on the body in some light looks aqua-blue (photo 3), but this may be that colour on the wings (which is very iridescent) reflecting off them.
