I'm curious about whether I can see a bit of chestnut on the shoulder of the male in breeding plumage and if so, if this could be a Variegated Fairywren pair?
I was uncertain myself and went back for a closer check. It is definitely a Variegated F-w by the absence of black through the eye. We identified them in the vicinity some time ago but never seen them on our property before so this is a new one for us. Thank you.
