A medium-sized cicada with a mostly reddish-tan body, with some small black patches, and some pale lines patterning the pronotum and upper thorax, and the upper rear edges of abdominal segments (photos 1, 2, 3 & 4). It looks to have a pale yellow line running centrally from the front of the pronotum towards the back (photos 3 & 4) . The fore wings have an intriguing pattern of white (mostly on the straight parts of veins) and black (mostly on the ‘zig-zag’ parts and ‘corners’ of veins (photos 3, 4 & 5). The eyes appear to be a pale pink-fawn colour. I’m thinking this is a Razor Grinder (Henicopsaltria eydouxii).
